Munnsville Resident Appointed to College Council at Morrisville State College

Michael Oot, of Munnsville, has been appointed by former Gov. David Paterson to serve on the College Council at Morrisville State College. Oot, an attorney and partner in the firm of Oot & Stratton, with offices in E. Syracuse and Sherrill, is an active member of the local community, serving as co-founder, board member and vice president of the Stockbridge Valley Educational Foundation, a New York state not-for-profit designed to raise funds for the enhancement of the educational experience at the school. Oot also served as past president of the Stockbridge Valley Central School Board. He is also a founding member of the Central New York Workers' Compensation Bar Association where he served as an officer. A member of the New York State Bar Association, Oot has experience as a candidate for Congress in the 23rd Congressional District in the 2008 general election. “I am pleased to welcome Michael to the College Council,” Ray Cross, Morrisville State College president, said. “His knowledge, experience and community commitment will greatly benefit the college.” “Morrisville is a wonderful institution and provides excellent educational experience and opportunities; it's a technologically superior college and a great resource to the community,” Oot said. “I'm deeply honored that the governor appointed me to the board”. Oot earned a bachelor of arts degree from Alfred University and a juris doctorate degree from the Syracuse Western New England College, School of Law. Oot and his wife, Ann, live in Stockbridge with daughter Emily and son Peter. Three other daughters, Becky, Elisabeth and Jessica live in Central New York.
