The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team completed the season as the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone II Region 3 Reserve Regional Champion on Saturday, at the Van Lennep Riding Center at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

The Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team dropped their second straight contest in the north country, falling 18-5 to non-conference host Potsdam Saturday afternoon in Potsdam. With the loss, Morrisville State drops to 1-5 overall.

Visiting Keuka College tallied five unanswered goals in the third period, while holding the Mustangs scoreless, as they collected a 14-9 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host Morrisville State College men’s lacrosse Saturday afternoon on Drake Field in Morrisville.

The Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team stumbled Friday afternoon, dropping a 19-12 non-conference decision to host SUNY Canton in Canton. The loss drops the Mustangs to 1-4 overall, while Canton improves to 4-3. Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.) and Cassie Edmondson (Oshawa, Ontario) each posted four goals to lead the Morrisville State efforts, while Megan Carlin (Pawling, N.Y.) added three tallies, and Kolleen Brown (Willet, N.Y.) one.

The Morrisville State College women’s softball team dropped two  Friday evening, falling 8-0 and 14-1 in double header action on the road at Elmira College. The loss drops the Mustangs to 0-6 overall on the season. In the first of the day’s action, Eileen Farrell (Johnsonville, N.Y.) recorded the lone hit as Morrisville State dropped the 8-0 decision in six innings.

The Morrisville State College athletic department has named Jessica Young (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Chris Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 24.

Morrisville State College will hold its first ever western horse sale on April 13 at the Nancy Sears Stowell Arena on Swamp Road. A preview/demonstration of sale horses begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by the sale at 1 p.m. So far, approximately 20 reining, pleasure and hunter prospects are up for auction, including top consignments from the college's own western breaking and training program.

The Morrisville State College western equestrian team completed their 2012-13 season Saturday at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) national semi-finals in Syracuse. The Mustangs finished fifth overall in team competition with 16 points, with team riders finishing in the top six spots in their respective classes. The University of Nebraska (27) edged out Ohio State University (26) for show championship honors.

The Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team is taking a stand against domestic violence and throughout the month of April will be raising awareness and donations to assist the Vera House and One Love Foundation, organizations that provide assistance to victims of domestic violence.

Four students from the accredited dietetic technician program at Morrisville State College recently reached outside of their classroom to help veterans at Clear Path for Veterans in Chittenango. The students volunteered their time and expertise, providing helpful nutritional information to 11 soldiers from Fort Drum experiencing low-level TBIs (traumatic brain injuries) who will be entering into civilian life within the next year.

Morrisville State College will be hosting more than 30 employers at the 2013 Job and Internship Expo for students and alumni on March 28, from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., in Madison Hall. During the expo, employers representing a broad range of industries will be available to answer questions about their companies, hiring practices, and current and potential part- and full-time positions, internships and volunteer opportunities. The event is free.

The Morrisville State College men’s lacrosse team dropped their home opener by a 11-7 final Tuesday afternoon to visiting University of New England, in near blizzard conditions on Drake Field in Morrisville. The Mustangs are off to a 0-4 start on the season and will return to the field Saturday, hosting non-conference rival SUNY Oswego at 11 a.m. on Drake Field. The Nor’Easters improve to 4-2.

The Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team opened the 2013 home schedule with a 22-8 loss to visiting Roberts Wesleyan College Saturday afternoon in Morrisville. The Mustangs fall to 0-3 on the start of the season. Roberts improves to 3-3.

The Morrisville State College men’s basketball season came to an end Saturday night, as they dropped the sectional round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament to host St. Mary’s College (27-3) by a 84-66 final in St. Mary’s City, Maryland.

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named Cailin Dunphy (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, N.Y.) the Mustangs Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 10.

Morrisville State College will be exhibiting the work of painter Lynette K. Stephenson in the Butcher Library Gallery. The exhibition titled, The Red Cross Series, will be available for public viewing until April 7. Inspired by uncontrollable tragedies that are aspects of the uncertainty of life, Stephenson's paintings, most of which originated from her imagination, are mixed with photographs and old first aid manuals.

The Morrisville State College men’s basketball team is continuing their trek into unknown territory, and without hesitation are looking to push forward as they travel to St. Mary’s College in Maryland, for the sectional round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team earned reserve high point team honors Saturday, recording 37 team points, nearly edging Regional leader Skidmore College at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) invitational in Morrisville. Skidmore was high point team with 41 points. Four Mustangs took home top show honors, including Keely O’Hara who claimed a first in the open equitation on the flat.

D3hoops.com announced its 2012-13 All-Region teams Wednesday afternoon, naming Morrisville State College men’s basketball head coach Joseph Smith, the East Region Coach of the Year. Smith guided the team to back-to-back North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship regular season and tournament titles, and two straight appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
