The Morrisville State College athletic department has named Jessica Young (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Chris Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 24.
Young, attack for the women’s lacrosse team, posted a collegiate best six goals and three assists in the 18-12 win over Misericordia last week. Her six scores came on six shots, while adding two ground balls and three draw controls to her tallies on the day.
Young is currently second on the team in scoring, posting nine goals and assisting another six for 15 team points.
The graduate of Shenendehowa High is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Pam and Jeffrey Young of Clifton Park.
Fiore, freshman netminder for the men’s lacrosse team, earns athlete of the week honors following his performance between the pipes against the University of New England last week.
In the contest, he registered 17 saves on 42 shots faced for a .580 save percentage, while collecting two ground balls.
Fiore has recorded 51 stops to date this season, a 10.93 goals against average, and a .586 save percentage.
The graduate of New Dorp High is majoring in sports, nutrition and fitness management at Morrisville State. He is the son on Cathy and Kevin Fiore of Staten Island.
