Morrisville State's dairy judging team recently took home honors from the 46th annual Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held during the 2014 All-American Dairy Show, in Harrisburg, Pa. The contest included dairy cattle evaluation and the delivery of oral reasons in defense of those evaluations. Awards were given to individuals and teams in each division for oral reasons, breed-specific results and overall results.
Ed Stone sat eagerly with a pen in his hand, marking up a sales booklet and keeping a close eye on a couple of his “favorite” Standardbreds as they entered the sale ring. “I never miss this,” said the Vermont resident who has been making the trip to Morrisville State's Annual Standardbred Sale for 20 years. This year's sale topped all others he has ever seen, breaking records in the top sale of a horse, the college's sale average and overall attendance.

A cornucopia of delights beckons customers inside the quaint store brimming with scents of seasonings, sauces and fall. Kim Smith, of South Plymouth, has been named associate dean in the School of Science, Technology and Health Studies at Morrisville State. Smith, who recently served as interim associate dean in the School of Science, Technology and Health Studies, has worked at Morrisville State since 2006. Throughout her tenure, she has also served as assistant professor of nursing and nursing department chair. Prior to working at Morrisville State, Smith worked as a staff nurse at Chenango Memorial Hospital, in Norwich, for 13 years.
Morrisville State College will welcome potential college students to open houses on Sept. 27 and Nov. 15 for a preview of the campus and what it has to offer. During the Sept. 27 open house, students can get answers to questions from Q&A's about admissions, academics, financial aid and more. There will be a welcome at 10 a.m. in the campus recreation center, followed by academic sessions at 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. An information session on the equine programs will be held from 1:30-3 p.m.

Morrisville State students were among more than 1,800 of America's best and brightest college students who showcased their talents as future business leaders during the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) National Leadership Conference held recently in Nashville, Tenn. Participants from across the United States and two countries participated in the conference which enabled them to sharpen their core business skills, expand their networks, and participate in more than 55 business and business-related competitive events.
Morrisville State has been ranked among the Best Regional Colleges in the North in the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2015 issue, a publication renowned for its higher education rankings. The college climbed a spot in this year's round of rankings from No. 44 (in 2014), to No. 43. Morrisville State also reclaimed its No. 14 spot in the Top Public Schools, Regional Colleges North in the 2015 Best Colleges rankings.
Morrisville State's thirty-second annual Autumn Review Sale will be held on Sept. 20. The sale, run by the Morrisville State Dairy Club, will start at 11 a.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Building on Eaton Street in Morrisville. One hundred and one lots will be sold on consignment at the sale. The majority for sale are Holstein (calves, cows, embryos, and picks), in addition to two jerseys and two milking shorthorns.
Morrisville State will hold its twenty-fifth annual Fall Yearling Sale Sept. 21 at noon at the college’s Nancy Sears Stowell Arena on Swamp Road. The preview day for the sale, the largest of its kind in New York State, is Sept. 20. A total of 135 yearlings are up for sale. Eleven of them are being sold by the college: two yearlings of Cash Hall; four yearlings of RC Royalty; four yearlings of Conway Hall; and one of Crazed.
