Morrisville State has been recognized for its outstanding support to students who have served in the military, being designated as a Military Friendly® School by Victory Media.
“We are happy to receive this designation,” said Brian Wallenhorst, admissions counselor and member of the college's Veterans Task Force. “We strive to provide transitioning veterans the best possible experience in higher education and do all we can to ensure that they succeed on campus.”
The list honors Morrisville State as one of the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools
in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students and dedicating resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.
“We are committed to meeting the needs of military personnel, veterans and their families,” said Jeri O'Bryan-Losee, director of Science and Technology Entry Programs CSTEP/STEP, and member of the college's Veterans Task Force.
Morrisville State offers a host of educational benefits for eligible students in addition to veterans support services. An active Veterans Task Force, comprised of campus and community volunteers, also assists in the development of activities and support services to students, faculty and staff with military service and their families.
A new veterans' lounge, with study areas, computers and a printer, serves as a meeting point for student veterans on campus to connect.
The campus also reaches out to veterans through a campus-wide Veterans Day recognition ceremony, in addition to volunteering at various veterans' organizations throughout the community. For the past five years, the men's lacrosse team has also raised money to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project.
Now in its sixth year, the Military Friendly® Schools designation and list by Victory Media is the premier, trusted resource for post-military success. Military Friendly provides service members transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities.
The Military Friendly® Schools designation process includes extensive research and a data-driven survey of schools nationwide approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding. Victory Media is a service-disabled, veteran-owned business serving the military community since 2001.
