The Morrisville State College athletic department has named senior hockey forward, Bobby Cass (Burlington, ONT) the Mustang Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 16. Cass was involved in each scoring play for the Mustangs in the 4-3 overtime loss to 15th ranked Neumann College Saturday. Cass tallied two power play scores and assisted another in the loss. Currently second on the team in scoring with five goals and eight assists (13 points), Cass has tallied 22 goals and 28 assists in his career with the Mustangs.

The Morrisville State College wrestling team dropped dual action Tuesday night to host Rochester Institute of Technology by a 31-11 match final in Rochester. Nate Cross (Hudson Falls, NY) was first to put points on the board for the Mustangs, recording a major decision (14-1) over Adam Huguinine in the 165 pound weight class. Joseph Rodriguez (Port Chester, NY) followed at 184 pounds with a 6-3 decision over Braden Friscia. Josue Cardenas (Port Chester, NY) rounded out Mustang scoring with a major decision over Dave Sickler (11-3) at 197 pounds.

Morrisville State College junior defenseman Tom Longland (Dunnville, ONT) gathered a rebound in front of net and fired the game winner past the Pilgrims netminder to give the Mustangs a 4-3 non-conference win on the road at New England College Tuesday night in Henniker, New Hampshire. Playing to a scoreless first period, New England put the first score of the night on the board 2:23 into the second, before Morrisville State's Bobby Cass (Burlington, ONT) responded less than a minute later with a Mustang score.

Morrisville State College men's basketball fell short Sunday afternoon, dropping their second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest to host Penn State Harrisburg by a 94-85 final in Middletown, PA. Four netted double figures for the Mustangs, but the Nittany Lions shot 58 percent from the floor in the contest and tallied 51 first half points in the win.

Visiting Morrisville State College women's basketball dropped to 2-11 overall on the season, as Penn State Harrisburg collected the 59-46 North Eastern Athletic Conference victory Sunday afternoon in Middletown, PA. Harrisburg raced out to a 28-15 point lead at the half, and led by as many as 22 in the second in the win. Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) led Morrisville State with 18 points on the day, while Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) added 11 points and grabbed a team high 13 rebounds. Daril Foose had 12 to lead the Nittany Lions.

After skating to a 4-1 victory over nationally-ranked Neumann College Friday night, the Morrisville State Mustangs added a tough loss to their record, losing 4-3 to the Knights after a late goal by Brent Tamane (Pickering, ONT), assisted by Will Lacasse (St. Pie, QUEBEC) and Scott Farrell (Ottawa, ONT) in sudden victory overtime.

The Morrisville State College men's basketball team fell 83-64 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action Saturday afternoon to host Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, NY) recorded a team best 16 points, adding six boards and five assists to lead the Mustangs. Wayne Turner (Brooklyn, NY) added 13 for Morrisville State, grabbing six rebounds and stealing six.

Easter Faafiti posted 14 points and 16 rebounds to lead host Gallaudet University to a 56-41 victory over visiting Morrisville State College Saturday afternoon in Washington, DC. Morrisville State got off to a slow start, netting just 12 points in the first half to trail by 20 at the break. In the second, Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) tallied 11 of her total 17 points, but Morrisville State couldn't overcome the Bison deficit. LaQuiesha Jenkins (Syracuse, NY) added nine points in the loss.

The Morrisville State College men's ice hockey team turned up the heat in the second and third periods to post an upset victory over the visiting #15 nationally ranked Neumann College Knights by a 4-1 final in Morrisville. Morrisville State improves to 7-5-1 overall with the non-conference win, while Neumann drops to 8-5-3. The Knights were first to strike, as Mat Valois (Ottawa, ONT) put Neumann's only score past Morrisville State goaltender, Colin Breen (Waterloo, ONT), 3:23 into the period.

The Morrisville State College men's ice hockey program has teamed up with Saves For A Cure, Saturday, February 5th in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest against SUNY Plattsburgh. Saves For A Cure is a non-profit organization founded by former SUNY Brockport goaltender and cancer survivor, Todd Sheridan, aimed to help children with their battle against cancer. The program assists in enhancing hospital stays for children undergoing cancer treatments at the James P Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester.
