There won't be any textbooks in Morrisville State College Professor Roberta Sloan's Systems Analysis class this semester. They've been replaced with a lightweight computer tablet that's putting learning within students' touch.
The new Apple iPad2 tablet device is enabling them to access eTextbooks—a savvy new way to view text and other educational resources electronically without the bulk or cost of a textbook.

Morrisville State College fall student-athletes took a break during preseason workouts Friday to assist with new student move in day on the campus, kicking off the 2011-12 athletic department community service efforts for the upcoming year.
Student-athletes from both the football and men's soccer programs offered assistance unloading moving trucks and helping new students move items into their dorm rooms, as Morrisville State welcomed the class of 2015.

The Morrisville State College Baccalaureate Nursing Program will host a site review for initial accreditation of its RN to BS nursing program. The public is invited to meet the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) visit team and share their comments about the program in person at a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 21 from 2-2:30 p.m. in room 130 Charlton Hall, on the Morrisville campus.

Morrisville State College professor Dr. Christopher Scalzo took his vast entrepreneurial expertise overseas this summer to help several companies in Kenya and Lebanon.
The associate professor of business and entrepreneurship first traveled to Kenya, East Africa, for three weeks to continue his efforts in helping a soy and maize producing company enhance its operations.

The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its 2011 pre-season football poll Wednesday morning, selecting Morrisville State College ninth.
Morrisville State compiled a 2-8 record (2-7 NJAC) in their fourth season within the conference in 2010, posting league wins over Brockport and Western Connecticut.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced the Sportsmanship and Inspirational Award winners for the 2010-11 year, naming Morrisville State College's Thomas Longland (Dunnville, ONT) the recipient of the Individual Sportsmanship Award.
“We're excited for such a significant honor to have been bestowed on Tom. He really exemplifies everything you would want in a college athlete,” said Greg Carroll, Morrisville State's Director of Athletics.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) recently announced its 2010-11 NEAC Scholar-Athlete recipients, naming 17 Morrisville State College student-athletes to the academic honor list.
To be named a scholar-athlete, students must achieve a GPA of 3.4 or higher for the fall and spring semesters combined while participating in a NEAC sponsored sport.

The Bert Hundredmark Memorial Scholarship was awarded to gaming and casino management students, Boyce Neff, of Dryden and Rebecca Barlow, of Groton.
The Bill Jones Scholarship was awarded to Elise Rinehart, of Ellington, a resort and recreation service management: technology management bachelor degree student.

Morrisville State College will be hosting more than 1,100 high school junior boys and staff at this year's Boys State government camp, sponsored by the American Legion, June 26 to July 1.
Classified as a Leadership Action Program, Boys State accepts young men with outstanding qualifications in leadership, character, service and citizenship, who reflect on the image of the youth of America.

Morrisville State College will host a developmental lacrosse clinic for high school level players Thursday nights, starting June 9th. The clinic will run June 9, 16, July 14, 21, 28 and August 4 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on Drake Field on the Morrisville State campus.
These clinics are designed for players who are looking to excel and develop their game at the collegiate level. The primary focus will be on training and development of high school players.

During the expo, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., job seekers can meet with local employers about part-time and full-time positions, summer jobs and internships.

Medallions hanging from graduates' regalia told the story behind the added pomp and circumstance that was visible throughout Morrisville State College's commencement ceremony today.
The keepsakes, embellished with the number 100, were among elements throughout the decorated ceremony that signified graduates were celebrating more than their accomplishments—they were also making history as the 100th graduating class.

Morrisville State College and the New York Society of American Foresters, Iroquois Chapter are hosting a “woodswalk” in celebration of the International Year of Forests.
The walk will be held May 21 at 10 a.m. at the college's Galbreath Farm in Morrisville. It will be led by Brendan Kelly, a Society of American Foresters certified forester, and assistant professor of environmental science at Morrisville State College.

Receiving the Rays of Light Servant Leadership Award was Marguerite Whaley, of Smyrna, N.Y., a human services major at Morrisville State College's Norwich campus.
Thomas Longland, of Dunnville, Ontario, a sports, nutrition and fitness management major at Morrisville State College, received the college's Rays of Light Award.

The State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher recently announced the winners of the 2010-11 Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award, honoring 75 students from across the SUNY System, including Morrisville State College's Jonathan Fried (Jordan, NY) in the sport of men's lacrosse.
The award was created to recognize academic excellence along with outstanding athletic achievement.
