MORRISVILLE, NY—Thirty years. Three thousand eggs. More than 4,000 pies. Those are some of the top tallies from the International Food Service Executives Association’s (IFSEA) pie sale throughout the years at Morrisville State College.  The annual tradition, timed around the holidays, is led by Morrisville State College professor Joan Johnson, who started the labor of love as a fundraiser for IFSEA and has guided its success through three decades.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College automotive students got a first-hand look at industry trends while networking with automotive professionals and potential future employers during the annual SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show held in Las Vegas Oct. 28-Nov. 3. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—An exhibit showcasing art created by veterans, their friends and family, and their supporters will be on display Nov. 9 through Jan. 5 in the Donald Butcher Library Gallery at Morrisville State College. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College student Justin Gibson took time out of his busy class schedule to make cards for military troops overseas. The sentiment behind his card was more than a thank you. It was a tribute to his late father who served in the Navy. “I want him to know, as I want them (troops) to know, how much I appreciate their service—for protecting our country and to let them know how important they are to us,” he said. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Community members from across the state joined the Morrisville State College campus community to engage with New York’s agricultural leaders during the 2018 Farm Bill Listening Tour hosted by the college Monday.  Morrisville State College President David Rogers provided the event’s opening remarks to the packed crowd, which included Morrisville students, faculty and staff in addition to various stakeholders from throughout New York. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College assistant professor Mike Gridley has made an active construction site a real-world classroom for students seeking experiential education.  Gridley is providing students in his masonry and estimating and planning classes with hands-on experience constructing a 3,600-square-foot raised ranch home in nearby Waterville. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—The Morrisville State College Theater Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) are teaming up to present Beth Henley’s award-winning play, Crimes of the Heart.  The three-act, six-cast dramedy will be performed in the Little Theater of the college’s Student Activities Building Oct. 20-21 at 8 p.m., Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. and Oct. 26-28 at 8 p.m. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—The sounds of glasses clinking together filled the Copper Turret Restaurant & Brewhouse as enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the new brewery’s opening.  “This is an exciting day to be affiliated with Morrisville State College and we congratulate everyone involved,” said Senator David Valesky, one of many who attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the facility Oct. 13.

MORRISVILLE, NY—The Copper Turret Restaurant & Brewhouse will celebrate the official opening of its new brewery with a “Brewhouse Bash” Saturday, Oct. 14.  The establishment, operated by Morrisville State College’s auxiliary corporation, will hold the all-day bash in its tasting room through its normal business hours of 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

MORRISVILLE, NY—During one of her first visits in the 64 SUNY campus circuit, SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson spoke with Morrisville State College faculty and staff about energy and environmental goals and the importance of small business innovation and entrepreneurship. “I’ve never been to a college like Morrisville State,” Johnson said. “It’s applied learning on steroids.” 

MORRISVILLE, NY—More than 1,500 attendees are expected to grace campus to celebrate agriculture during Morrisville State College’s annual Ag Day, being held Thursday, Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Academic Quad.  The event, free and open to the public, features a pedal tractor pull, hayrides, hay maze, face painting and seed-planting activities.

The yearling went for $26,000 during Morrisville State College’s Annual Fall Yearling Sale.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Brittney Noto is learning a lot about the dairy industry—like how to run a cattle sale.  For the second year, Noto, an animal science-dairy student from Delevan, served as a chair of Morrisville State College’s Autumn Review Sale.  This year’s sale grossed $168,500 with 95 total live lots, 25 milking lots and five embryo lots. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—A variety of laughs, food, fun and excitement are once again on tap to celebrate Morrisville State College’s annual Mustang Weekend Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30.

The college has been ranked No. 29 among the Best Regional Colleges in the North in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2018 issue, a publication renowned for its higher education rankings. MORRISVILLE, NY—The Morrisville State College Dairy Club is set to host its annual Autumn Review Sale on Saturday, Sept. 16. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College will host its annual Fall Yearling Sale Sunday, Sept. 17 at noon at the college’s Nancy Sears Stowell Arena on Swamp Road.  The highly anticipated event draws a crowd of potential buyers, sellers, trainers and owners from across the Northeast. MSC’s sale is the only one of its kind in New York State on a college campus. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College student Ashley Mount and a lamb named “Steve” took top honors at the 2017 Erie County Fair Market Lamb show.  “Steve” is a crossbreed wether bred selected as Grand Champion Market Lamb at the fair, where he was shown by Mount, an agriculture business development student from Towanda, Pa.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College president Dr. David E. Rogers joined Department of Agriculture and Markets Commissioner Richard A. Ball and State Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon at the Great New York State Fair to launch its first-ever Agriculture Career Day on Friday morning. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—More than 1,200 incoming freshmen and transfer students will be welcomed on-campus as Morrisville State College celebrates Welcome Weekend Aug. 24-27. Classes begin Aug. 28 at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. ONCAMPUS SUNY is welcoming 39 students for the fall semester, hailing from China, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and South Korea. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College will have a strong presence again this year at the Great New York State Fair, featuring a handcrafted scale-model canoe, a student-built hot rod, horses and renewable energy and hemp displays. The fair runs Aug. 23-Sept. 4. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Two staff members from the Children’s Center at Morrisville State College were recently honored with statewide awards as the center also claimed national reaccreditation. 

Every summer growing up, Hayley Cosgrove looked forward to attending The Great New York State Fair so she could admire Morrisville’s elegant stable of Belgians. Cosgrove fondly admired the graceful draft horses as they competed in the show ring, wishing she could be right alongside them.
