MORRISVILLE, NY—The Copper Turret Restaurant & Brewhouse will celebrate the official opening of its new brewery with a “Brewhouse Bash” Saturday, Oct. 14.
The establishment, operated by Morrisville State College’s auxiliary corporation, will hold the all-day bash in its tasting room through its normal business hours of 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The event, free and open to the public, will feature tours of the new brewery, an extensive building project that derived from the college’s preparation to offer a bachelor’s degree in food technology.
Also on tap are tastings of the brewery’s four flagship beers, the first official products of the brewhouse. The brews, which incorporate local products and whose names pay homage to the college and community, are available year-round and include: The Crop, a German-style pilsner; The Arsenal, a Madison County Hopped IPA; Cherry Valley, an oatmeal-coffee stout; and Belgian Draft Horse, a Belgian-style tripel.
Attendees 21 years of age and older receive a free drink token, and a free glass is provided with the purchase of any of the 12-plus Copper Turret beers, while supplies last. Also available are light snacks free-of-charge, in addition to special menu options offered for purchase.
Patrons will win free giveaways from hourly raffles throughout the event.
The festivities are part of a two-day long celebration, with an invitation-only ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Morrisville State College President David Rogers and MSC head brewer Micheal Coons kicking things off on Friday, Oct. 13.
The brewery serves as the laboratory facility for the Morrisville State College Brewing Institute, giving students the true-to-life experience of growing practices and processing raw ingredients, allowing for the production of higher quality beers.
The restaurant at the Copper Turret also serves as a learning laboratory for students in Morrisville’s hospitality programs, offering a wireless classroom and learning kitchen.
Morrisville State College’s curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs.
The college was ranked among the Best Regional Colleges in the North by U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2018 issue and was also recognized in the Top Public Schools, Regional Colleges North in the 2018 Best Colleges rankings.
