MORRISVILLE, NY—Sorcery, monsters, witches, demons, and a main character who had to stop a horrible ritual from happening, set the scene for a team of Morrisville State College students who participated in this year’s Global Game Jam.

MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College will hold an open house on Friday, Feb. 19.  The open house gives prospective students the opportunity to visit the Morrisville campus and interact with current college students and employees.  The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with a welcome ceremony in the student activities center (STUAC). There will also be academic presentations and facility tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

MORRISVILLE, NY— Lisa Iannello, of New Berlin, has been named Morrisville State College’s executive director of advancement and executive director of the Morrisville College Foundation. In this role, Iannello will lead the institutional advancement office in fundraising and scholarship efforts, and also oversee alumni affairs and the foundation board. 

MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College will once again serve as a host site for teams of artists, hobbyists, programmers, designers and musicians during the popular Global Game Jam ™ (GGJ) which will be held Jan. 29-31.

MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College President David Rogers will be speaking about entrepreneurship during a “How to Think Like an Entrepreneur” webinar which will be held Jan. 21, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Oxford Academy High School Auditorium. President Rogers will present “Connections to Entrepreneurism and Applied Learning” during the event, which is free and open to the public. 

MORRISVILLE, NY— Five Morrisville State students have been awarded Caterpillar/Milton CAT Scholarships by the Morrisville College Foundation. The $2,500 scholarships, awarded to students in the diesel technology/agricultural engineering programs, are based on academic achievement and financial need. Scholarship recipients are:

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College student Justin Quiles, of White Lake, was recently awarded the Dr. McBride Criminal Justice Student Achievement Award by the SUNY Police Chiefs Association.  A junior in the college’s criminal justice bachelor degree program, Quiles is the first Morrisville student to receive the award since it was instituted in 2001. 

MORRISVILLE, NY— Dr. David E. Rogers was formally installed as the eighth president of Morrisville State College on Nov. 20, 2015 during a ceremony that showcased the close-knit MSC community. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—It was Delroy Young’s first experience preparing a five-course meal. The Morrisville State College student selected two fried slices of zucchini from a large bowl, placed them atop a creamy beer cheese soup, then topped it with a chipotle crème fraiche and pea shoots.  “Looks good. Looks good,” said Chef Kerry Beadle as he peered over his shoulder.

MORRISVILLE, NY— A new tradition has begun on the Morrisville State College campus. MSC President David Rogers announced the establishment of Founders’ Day, a day to acknowledge and celebrate community service.  “Each year we will celebrate community service achievements on October 26, Founders’ Day, which coincides with the first day of classes at Morrisville in 1910,” Rogers said.

MORRISVILLE, NY—A new transportation option is bringing relief to Morrisville State College faculty, staff and students—and their wallets.  Morrisville State College launched a new partnership with Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, to offer a Zipcar car sharing program on campus.

Excitement and enthusiasm filled Follett Hall during the Commerce Chenango College and Career Connection event, hosted recently at the Norwich Campus of Morrisville State College. 

MORRISVILLE, NY— Adams Center resident Ray Ortlieb is feeling pretty lucky these days. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Deputy purchased only one ticket—the one pulled in Morrisville State College’s raffle to win the Automotive Club’s rat rod.

MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) took home several awards from the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) Northeast Regional Conference held recently in Teaneck, NJ.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College has made the grade again. The college has been ranked among the Best Regional Colleges in the North in the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2016 issue, a publication renowned for its higher education rankings, climbing 10 spots in this year’s round of rankings to No. 33, from No. 43 (in 2015). 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Big things are on the horizon for Morrisville State College.  The college was awarded $12.9 million through the SUNY 2020 initiative to build a new 35,000-square-foot alternative fuels building.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College’s welding lab will get a boost thanks to a $30,000 grant from the Dominion Foundation. Dominion is one of the nation’s largest producers and transporters of energy. The grant money will be used to update equipment, a move that will add spark to welding courses at MSC.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College’s Annual Autumn Review Sale set a record with the highest number of animals in the 33-year history of the event. The dairy cattle sale focused on Holsteins but also sold two Jerseys, two Brown Swiss, and one Milking Shorthorn. The sale grossed a total of $274,650 with 116 live lots sold, nine embryo lots, and five additional animals outside the formal sale. The live lots ranged from two days old to 5-year-old cows. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—The Morrisville State College Theater Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) will present Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy, “The Importance of Being Earnest,” in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) on Oct. 23, 24 at 8 p.m.; Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.; and Oct. 29, 30, 31 at 8 p.m.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College professor and Clinton resident Wyatt Galusky has been selected to the New York Council for the Humanities Public Scholars.  Galusky is associate professor and chair of the Humanities Department and coordinator of the science, technology, & society program at MSC. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College held its twenty-sixth annual Standardbred yearling sale, taking in close to $1 million.  The highly anticipated event drew a crowd of potential buyers, sellers, trainers and owners from across the Northeast. MSC’s sale is the only one of its kind in New York State held on a college campus. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Reunions, a 5k run and a carnival are some of the featured events during Mustang Weekend at Morrisville State College Sept. 25-27. Activities begin Friday night, Sept. 25 with a 50-year reunion dinner for the class of 1965 and a men’s alumni lacrosse game at 7:30 p.m.

MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State will hold its twenty-sixth annual Fall Yearling Sale Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. at the college’s Nancy Sears Stowell Arena on Swamp Road.  There are a total of 69 yearlings cataloged for the 2015 sale. Eighteen of them are being sold by the college including two yearlings of Cash Hall; six yearlings of RC Royalty; three yearlings by Conway Hall, three yearlings by Deweycheatumnhowe and one by first crop stallion, Archangel.
