MORRISVILLE, NY—For the second consecutive year, Morrisville State College has been recognized for its outstanding support to students who have served in the military, being designated as a Military Friendly® School by Victory Media.
“We are proud to receive this designation for the second consecutive year,” said Brian Wallenhorst, admissions counselor and member of the MSC Veterans Task Force. “Our responsibility is to provide an environment for veterans to experience a seamless transition into college; as well as provide the needed guidance to ensure their success at Morrisville State College.”
The Military Friendly® School designation honors Morrisville State as one of the top colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students and dedicating resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.
Morrisville State College offers a host of educational benefits for eligible students in addition to veterans support services. An active Veterans Task Force, comprised of campus and community volunteers, also assists in the development of activities and support services to students, faculty and staff with military service and their families.
A veterans’ lounge, with study areas, computers and a printer, serves as a meeting point for student veterans on campus to connect.
The campus also reaches out to veterans through a campus-wide Veterans Day recognition ceremony, in addition to volunteering at various veterans’ organizations throughout the community. For the past six years, the men’s lacrosse team has also raised money to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project.
Now in its seventh year, the Military Friendly® Schools designation and list by Victory Media is the premier, trusted resource for post-military success. Military Friendly provides service members transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities.
The Military Friendly® Schools designation process includes extensive research and a data-driven survey of schools nationwide approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding. Victory Media is a service-disabled, veteran-owned business serving the military community since 2001.
Morrisville State College’s curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs.
The college was ranked among the Best Regional Colleges in the North by U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2016 issue and was also recognized in the Top Public Schools, Regional Colleges North in the 2016 Best Colleges rankings.
