Alfred P. Muss

I am Al Muss, and I joined the SUNY Morrisville faculty in 2001. For ten years before Morrisville, I worked in Human Resources in the telecommunications, federal contracting, consulting, and broadcast television industries.  I hold an MBA and a Bachelor of Science degree in management from Binghamton University and an Associate of Science degree in business administration from SUNY Broome Community College.   I held an NYS Teaching Certificate in Business and Distributed Education – Secondary for a few years.

I teach primarily in human resources management, management communications, marketing, accounting, and strategy areas.

I work hard to make my classes creative, engaging, and current.  I enjoy the classroom experience and interacting with students.  Each student brings a story to class.  Before my professional career, I taught marching band, worked in a film factory, stocked shelves at grocery stores, worked in a pizza shop, was a work/study as a “loan arranger” in financial aid, and worked at a local beer distributor as the “keg hauler.”  I try to stay active when not prepping for class or grading.  I like to run, hike, do/research martial arts, walk the dog, throw a game of darts, or play cards with my family.  I have family on the West Coast and hike the Pacific Northwest or the mountains of eastern Oregon each summer.

Over the years, I had roles as the Technology Management B.Tech program advisor, NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), Interim Dean of the School of Business and Hospitality, Vice Speaker of Faculty Congress, Judicial Board Chair, Safety Committee, and advisor to SIFE and Phi Beta Lambda, to name a few.  I am the chair of the Intercollegiate Athletics Board, advisor to Chi Alpha Sigma, and a Continuing Appointment and Promotion Committee member.

I have been recognized at Morrisville with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, SUNY Morrisville Distinguished Faculty Award, and several Student Government Organization Best Academic Advisor Awards in the School of Business.

I look forward to seeing you in my classes!
