The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its student-athletes of the week, naming Morrisville State College freshman midfielder, Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.) the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending April 15.
Wood recorded 20 points on 17 goals and three assists to go along with five ground balls and 15 draw controls during a 3-0 week for Morrisville State, will all three victories coming in conference play to keep the Mustangs undefeated in NAC West action at 5-0.
She began the week with a six goal, two assist performance in the 22-5 victory over SUNY IT on Wednesday, adding four ground balls, seven draw controls and three caused turnovers, before following up with five goals and an assist in the win over Lancaster Bible Saturday. Wood completed the week with six scores in the win over Wilson.
Wood currently leads Morrisville State in both goals scored (52) and points tallied (66) and is ranked third in the conference.
The freshman is a graduate of Holy Names Academy and is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Michelle and David Wood of Duanesburg.
