For the first time in over thirty years the Morrisville State men's cross country team places first at the Hobart Cross Country Invitational.
Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) placed first overall with a time of 28:00. Quick to follow him was Greg Johnsmeyer (West Hurley, N.Y.) who finished fourth with a time of 28:16 and Ben Sargard (Manlius, N.Y.) who placed seventh with a time of 29:13.
Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) was the fourth Mustang to cross the finish line with a time of 30:04, earning him 14th place. Finishing 18th and 19th were Malcolm Legloahec (Brunswick, M.E.) and Dakota Nelson (Smyrna, N.Y.) with times of 30:38 and 30:41, respectively.
The women's team ran to a fifth place finish getting edged by one point by Keuka College. Amanda Hunt (Laceyville, P.A.) finished sixth place overall with a time of 25:39. Meghan Mantaro (Oswego, N.Y.) followed her for the Mustangs with a 17th place finish and a time of 27:20. Kristen Offringa (Napanoch, N.Y.), Hillary Courtwright (Chittenango, N.Y.) and Brittany Ellis (Camillus, N.Y.) rounded Morrisville State scoring with 42nd, 47th and 50th place finishes, respectively.
The Mustangs are back on the course next Saturday, September 24th at the Houghton Invitational.
