The Morrisville State College women's basketball team concluded the 2011-12 season with a 68-61 loss to the visiting SUNY IT Wildcats Saturday afternoon in Northeastern Athletic Conference play.
The Mustangs finish at 10-15 overall, 8-9 in NEAC action while the Wildcats are now 20-4, 14-2 in the conference.
Morrisville was led by Nijah Townsend (Bronx, N.Y.) with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Nijee Scott (Bronx, N.Y.) added 13 points and nine boards. Tierra Hollins-Hill (Bronx, N.Y.) had 15 points and three rebounds, hitting 4-of-7 from behind the arc.
SUNY IT had two players in double figures, led by junior Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, N.Y.), who posted 28 points, including five three's. Kayla McNeil (Stillwater, N.Y.) added 10. Nailah Cherry (Roosevelt, N.Y.) led the Wildcats in rebounds with 10.
The Mustangs trailed by nine points at halftime, and cut the lead to three with just over five minutes to go, but the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run to regain the 12 point advantage, sealing the victory.
Morrisville State held the advantage on the glass, 51-43, but couldn't convert opportunities from the free throw line, shooting a mere 52 percent from the stripe.
Prior to the game, seniors Dyshea Smiley (Harlem, N.Y.) and Jenna March (Munnsville, N.Y.) were honored.
