Junior forward Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.) tallied 28 points and grabbed a game high 20 rebounds to lead the visiting Wells College Express women’s basketball team past host Morrisville State College by a 59-48 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) final Wednesday night in Morrisville.
Morrisville State drops to 1-21 overall, 1-13 in conference play, while the Express improve to 12-10 and remain in a fight for the top spot in the Northern Division with an 11-3 NEAC record.
Junior guard Nijee Scott (Bronx, N.Y.) came off the bench to lead the Morrisville State efforts, tallying 19 points and grabbing a team high 10 boards, adding four assists and six steals to her tallies. Kamilla Ferguson (Willingboro, N.J.) added nine points, collecting four rebounds.
Roser, aside from her team high 28, added four assists, four steals and five blocks in the win for Wells, as teammate Lindsay Achzet (Johnstown, N.Y.) registered nine points and five rebounds.
Wells led by a narrow 25-22 margin at the half before opening the second period with a 6-1 run to build an eight point lead. Morrisville State pulled even at 31 with 14:04 showing on the clock, but the Express used a 17-4 burst to cushion the lead to 13, and eventually collect the conference win.
Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday traveling to Cazenovia.
