Visiting SUNY Potsdam women’s basketball forced 29 turnovers cruising to a 61-34 victory over host Morrisville State College Sunday afternoon in Morrisville.

The loss drops the Mustangs to 0-4 overall, while Potsdam improves to 1-3.

Courtney Coley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Morrisville State’s efforts with 12 points and six boards as teammate Nijee Scott (Bronx, N.Y.) added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Morrisville State opened with a 12-4 run over the first five minutes of the contest before Potsdam chipped away to cut the lead to just a one point game with 9:33 remaining in the half.

Potsdam then forced five Mustang turnovers to put together a run of their own, outscoring Morrisville State 12-2 to build up a nine point advantage, leading to a 31-20 halftime lead.

A slow start by the Mustangs in the second half, combined with 18 additional turnovers, led to Potsdam taking a commanding lead that proved to be too much to overcome as they collected the non-conference win.

Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, traveling to Hartwick College for a 1 p.m.
