Dear Mustangs,
I first want to share my sincere gratitude and thank you all for your continued compliance with our weekly COVID-19 testing procedures and daily screening requirements. It has greatly assisted in the college’s ongoing mission of providing the safest possible learning and working environment for our students, faculty and staff.
I have however become greatly concerned with the rise in positive cases found during our most recent weeks of testing. Even as COVID-19 vaccine eligibility and distribution continues to increase and provides us with great hope for the future, now is certainly not the time to let our guard down.
We must continue to follow safe practices, rules and laws. I am urging all students and employees to please continue to practice physical distancing, properly wear face coverings over your mouth and nose and continue to participate in our weekly testing so we can contain the spread of COVID-19.
Gathering or socializing in large groups still remains irresponsible and unwise. Please remember that this not only increases your risk of exposure to COVID-19, but also does so to your families and the campus and surrounding community. Likewise, we still don’t know the long-lasting effects that the virus can have on those who contract it.
The SUNY System sanctions for COVID-19 violations remain in place and are designed to hold individuals more accountable for behavior that creates a greater risk of spreading the virus. Let me assure you that the sanctions imposed will be applied universally without any favored treatment. We will identify anyone who hosts or attends unsanctioned gatherings and we will take sanctions against them.
If you want to report suspected criminal activity, please consider using Silent Witness as an anonymous online form. You also can submit COVID-19-specific questions or information using our online COVID-19 form.
With spring and warmer weather right around the corner, let’s please each do our part to ensure that brighter days can be ahead for all of us. Thank you.
