The Morrisville State College athletic department has named Teal Pedersen (Manorville, NY) and Austin Townsley (Horseheads, NY) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 24.
In her first intercollegiate show, freshman hunt seat rider, Pedersen, posted two first place finishes over the weekend at the Skidmore IHSA show, leading Morrisville State to reserve champion team honors. She posted blue ribbon finishes in the intermediate equitation over fences and intermediate equitation on the flat classes and earned high point rider honors for the show.
Townsley, sophomore runner on the men's cross country team, finished the 8k Heron Invitational in second place out of 30 runners with a time of 28:28, a 5:43 per mile pace, to lead the Mustangs. He has posted three top 10 finishes to date for the men.
The graduate of Horseheads High is majoring in information technology/networking at Morrisville State. He is the son of Mary and Fran Sherwood of Horseheads.
