Morrisville State women top Cazenovia, 8-3

Morrisville State sophomore goalkeeper, Allison Strub (Clifton Springs, NY) recorded eight saves to secure the 8-3 conference victory over visiting Cazenovia College Thursday afternoon in Morrisville.



Morrisville State improves to 6-6 overall in the win, 6-1 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West action. Cazenovia drops to 7-6 overall, 5-2 in conference play.



Cazenovia held the 2-1 advantage over the Mustangs with just over 20 to go in the first half, before Morrisville State posted three scores to take the 4-2 lead into the break.



Scoreless for nearly 35 minutes, the Wildcats mustered a score midway through the second half to cut the lead to 5-3, but Morrisville State responded with three additional tallies en route to the win.



Five registered goals for the Mustangs, including Lesa Ward (South Glens Falls, NY) and Jennifer May (Rochester, NY) each with two goals and an assist. Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, NY) contributed two, while Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, NY) and Cassie Edmondson (Oshawa, ONT) tallied one apiece.



Melissa Rivera (Slate Hill, NY), Cassandra Gazeley (West Sand Lake, NY) and Christy Foster (Canton, NY) each tallied scores for the Wildcats, while Christina Marra (Ballston Spa, NY) posted the loss in net, recording eight saves.



Morrisville State returns to the field Tuesday, on the road at Alfred University.



Beginning with the 2010 season, North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) members

Cazenovia, College of St. Elizabeth, Keuka, Medaille, Penn State - Abington, SUNY Morrisville, Wells, and Wilson will play as associate members of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in a West Division. Each division will hold a championship and the two divisional champions will meet to determine the conference champion.
