Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.) and Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y.) each posted five goals to lead visiting Morrisville State College women's lacrosse to a 19-5 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West victory over host Wells College Saturday afternoon in Aurora.
Morrisville State improves to 10-4 overall, and remains undefeated in conference play at 8-0.
Wood also added an assist, while five additional Mustangs registered points, including Erin Rundle (Marathon, N.Y.) and Jessica Young (Clifton Park, N.Y.) with four goals apiece. Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, N.Y.) posted a tally, while teammate Alison Falkenburgh (Bayport, N.Y.) dished out four assists. Lesa Ward (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) had two assists in the win.
Danielle Puzio (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded the win in net, making six stops as Morrisville State held the 35-16 advantage in shots on the day.
Wells held a 2-1 advantage before Morrisville State rallied for five straight, adding five more in the final three minutes of the half to claim the 11-3 lead at the break.
The Mustangs continued the scoring streak into the second half, posting the first five scores of the period before Wells managed to sneak in two. Morrisville State closed the contest with three additional goals.
Morrisville State returns to the field tomorrow, traveling to Keuka College at 1 p.m. for the final regular season conference contest. The Storm are also undefeated in conference play at 7-0.
