Morrisville State women laxers write name into record books

The Morrisville State College women's lacrosse team capped off a record setting 2012 campaign with a program best 13-6 overall record, claiming the regular season North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West title, NAC West Championship Tournament title and a historical first bid to the ECAC Championships.



Under fourth year head coach Amanda Nobis, the 2012 NAC West Coach of the Year, the Mustangs claimed the top spot in the record books in 15 team statistical categories, including points scored (384), goals (294), assists (90), and wins (13). They also pushed their way to the top in ground balls (489), draw controls (303), caused turnovers (191) and goals against average (10.33), posting the programs best win streak at 12 straight. Morrisville State also leads the record books in points per game (20.21), goals per game (15.47), assists per game (4.74), draw controls per game (15.95), and free position goals scored on the season (75).



Four assisted the team in reaching the record setting milestones, including freshman Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.), seniors Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y.) and Alison Falkenburgh (Bayport, N.Y.), along with junior Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, N.Y.).



Wood, the NAC West Rookie of the Year, took over claims to the top spot in goals scored in a single season (84) and became the first Mustang in the history of the program to post more than 100 points in a single season, wrapping up her first collegiate season with 102 points on 84 goals and 18 assists.



Hartnett, midfielder, concluded her four-year career second all-time in goals scored (139) and points recorded (155), while moving up the ranks to third overall in season goals posted (61) and points recorded (64).



Falkenburgh, midfielder/defender for the Mustangs, wrapped up a stellar four-year career as the college's all-time leader in assists recorded in a single season (31) and assists recorded in a career (41).



At midfield, Anderson shattered the single season draw control record, doubling the previous record by collecting 102 wins on the season.



In four seasons with the Mustangs, Nobis has posted an overall record of 31 wins and 32 losses, while coaching an All-SUNYAC First Team and ECAC First Team selection (Jennifer Caffarelli), and North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Player of the Year (Carmen Velazquez), NAC West Rookie of the Year (Wood), along with several NEAC/NAC All-Conference Team selections.



She has guided the Mustangs to three straight appearances in the conference championship tournament, reaching the finals in back-to-back seasons, claiming the championship title in 2012.
