The Morrisville State College western equestrian team finished the regular season Saturday, claiming high point team honors in the morning show and reserve high point team honors in the afternoon at the Morrisville western riding arena.
In the morning show, nine riders claimed top class honors to lead Morrisville State to high point team honors with 33 points, including Catherine Howland (Rutlandtown, Vt.) who took the blue ribbon in open reining en route to high point rider honors.
Cobleskill was reserve high point team with 19 points.
Erin Moseley (Cazenovia, N.Y.) was the top rider in the advanced class, while Stephenie Montanaro (Hagamna, N.Y.) and Alexandra Vargo (Ontario, N.Y.) claimed first place finishes in the novice class.
Paige Jerrett (Parish, N.Y.), Shannon Kraft (North Syracuse, N.Y.) and Erika Strickfaden (Gowanda, N.Y.) each were blue ribbon winners in the intermediate II class.
Avanti Johnson (Parsippany, N.J.) won the intermediate I class as Jessica Gilchrist (Evans Mills, N.Y.) was top finisher in the beginner class.
In the afternoon, Cobleskill edged the Mustangs 23 to 20 for high point team honors, but Morrisville State claimed both the high point rider and reserve high point rider honors as Megan Freemantle (Middlefield, N.Y.) and Howland finished atop the reining and open horsemanship classes, respectively.
In the advanced class, Jeremy McDermott (Middleburgh, N.Y.) claimed the blue ribbon, while Alexis Wall (St. Johnsville, N.Y.) and Katrina McAllister (Manlius, N.Y.) were top riders in the novice class.
Kristen Jankowski (New Woodstock, N.Y.) was the top rider in the intermediate II class, with Kirstin Lagree (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) posting top honors in the intermediate I class.
Morrisville State completed the regular season atop team competition with 232 points and has 17 riders in five different classes that have qualified for the Zone 2 Region 3 Championships held Sunday, March 4 in Morrisville.
