The Morrisville State College western equestrian team collected high point team honors in two shows on Saturday, sweeping all competition as they concluded the regular season schedule at the riding arena in Morrisville.
In the first of the day’s double, Morrisville State claimed show top honors with 30 team points, followed by Cobleskill with 22 and Colgate with eight.
Five had the top ride of the morning, including Nicole Pulcher-Guzek (Troy, N.Y.) in the novice western horsemanship class.
Caitlyn Soudan (Walworth, N.Y.), Marybeth Allen (Fort Plain, N.Y.), and Rebecca Brunecz (Sugar Grove, Pa.) each posted blue ribbons in the intermediate western horsemanship II class, while Jessica Gilchrist (Evans Mills, N.Y.) had the top finish in the intermediate western horsemanship I class.
In the afternoon show, Kelsey Stewart (Cuttingsville, N.Y.) won the open reining class and was second in the open western horsemanship class to claim co-high point rider honors with Leah DiGioia from SUNY Cobleskill.
Four additional riders took top honors, leading to Morrisville State claiming show champion accolades with 27 team points, while Cobleskill claimed reserve honors with 17. Colgate rounded out competition with seven.
Kirby Dygert (Elma, N.Y.) collected the top spot in the advanced western horsemanship class while Carissa Pidkameny (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Jessica Chase (Russell, Pa.) each added a blue ribbon in the intermediate western horsemanship II class, respectively.
Hannah Hoskins (Batavia, N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Mustangs in the beginner western horsemanship class.
