The Morrisville State College volleyball team posted a 3-2 victory over Penn State Harrisburg in the first round of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) cross over play, but dropped the following two matches to go 1-2 on the weekend at Wells College.

In the opening round, Morrisville State topped the Nittany Lions 25-22 and 25-23 before Harrisburg battled back to force a fifth set, in which the Mustangs came out on top 15-10 to claim the match win.
Lindsay Easterly (Cazenovia, N.Y.) recorded 47 assists in the match as four Mustangs were in double figures in kills in the contest, including Kylie Murphy (Nichols, N.Y.) who posted a team high 13, while teammates Jasmine Hairston-Harris (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, N.Y.) each added 12, respectively. Dayna Scurry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 11 to the team totals, also registering a solo and two assisted blocks at the net.
DeeAnna Rammelt (Westfield, N.Y.) posted a team best 13 defensive digs, with Jackie Saddlemire (Knox, N.Y.) tallying 12.
In the second round, Morrisville State fell in three straight sets to conference leader Gallaudet University, by scores of 25-8, 25-3 and 25-19.
Easterly tallied eight assists in the contest, three each to Hairston-Harris and Jones-Maxwell who recorded three kills apiece. Saddlemire led the defensive efforts with eight digs.
On Sunday, Morrisville State attempted to rebound from the loss to Gallaudet, but fell short as Penn State Abington claimed a 3-1 match win with set scores of 25-18, 19-25, 26-24, and 25-17.
Scurry led the Mustang efforts with 11 kills, adding two solo blocks, while teammate Jones-Maxwell added 10 kills and a block on the day. Easterly registered 29 assists.
Murphy led the defensive efforts with 12 digs.
Morrisville State returns to the court Friday, traveling to SUNY Canton for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
