Sophomore netminder Colin Breen (Waterloo, NY) posted a collegiate best 51 saves as visiting Morrisville State College hockey skated to a 3-3 draw against top nationally ranked Oswego State Saturday night in Oswego.
Morrisville State is 1-4-1 overall, 1-4-1 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, while Oswego is 5-1-1 overall, 3-0-1 in SUNYAC play.
Patrick Stillar (Burlington, ONT) led the Mustangs with a goal and an assist, while teammates Todd Hosmer (Scarborough, ONT) and Ryan Marcuz (Richmond Hill, ONT) each added one.
Chris Muise, Chris Brown and Jesse McConney each tallied scores for the Lakers, while Andrew Hare made 24 stops in the tie.
Morrisville State posted a 2-0 lead over the Lakers in the first, netting their first score of the night just 1:21 in on a power play tally from Stillar, before Hosmer extended the lead to two with just over five minutes remaining in the period.
Marcuz made it 3-0 for the Mustangs, netting a score just 2:29 into the second period.
Oswego was finally able to sneak one past Breen 16 seconds before the end of the second, as McConney found the back of the net to put the Lakers on the board.
In the third, Oswego rallied for two straight unanswered tallies, the first a power play score just 2:13 into the period from Brown, before Muise posted the third Laker score in the 10th minute to even the contest at three.
In the overtime frame, Breen kept the Lakers at bay, making seven stops as the Mustangs skated to the tie.
Morrisville State returns to the ice November 26 at the Rutland Herald Invitational Tournament at Castleton.
