The Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team cruised to their fifth North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory Tuesday afternoon, handing Cazenovia the 19-5 loss on Drake Field in Morrisville.
Morrisville State improves to 9-2 overall, and remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0. Cazenovia drops to 4-8 overall, 2-3 in NEAC action.
The Mustangs held the 3-1 lead after the first quarter and exploded for eight tallies in the second, posting the commanding 11-3 advantage over the Wildcats at the break. Cazenovia struggled offensively in the second half, scoring just two, while Morrisville State added eight more en route to the win.
Brandon Macera (Chittenango, NY) led the Mustangs with five goals and two assists while Adam Lewis (Painted Post, NY) added four scores and assisted three others. Dean Priest (Hinesburg, VT) contributed three goals and two assists, while Andrew Stein (Oswego, NY) posted a collegiate best five assists for Morrisville State.
Michael Hinchey (Lake Katrine, NY) recorded the win in net, saving four.
Freshman Jamil Modaffari (Penn Yan, NY) led the Wildcats with two goals, while Gareth Fabian (Randolph, VT), Jevon Pakkala (Newfield, NY) and Cory Tilton (Central Square, NY) tallied one apiece.
Goalkeeper Alex Iannicello (Warners, NY) had 15 saves in the loss for the Wildcats.
The Mustangs dominated Cazenovia offensively, holding the 58-20 advantage in shots, and 49-30 advantage in ground balls.
Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, traveling to Hamilton College for a noon face-off.
