Morrisville State men's lacrosse defeats Hilbert College, 21-10, clinches regular season title

The Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team clinched the regular season North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title Saturday evening by defeating Hilbert College 21-10.



The Mustangs are now 10-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the conference while Hilbert dropped to 5-7 and 4-4.



Andrew Stein (Oswego, N.Y.) and Jeremy Beresovoy (Jamesville, N.Y.) led the Mustangs scoring five goals apiece. Jack Martocello (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Devin Maxwell (Culver City, CA) each added three goals while Andrew Donoghue (Rochester, N.Y.) scored two. Maxwell and Donoghue each had three assists. Martocello grabbed seven groundballs while Matt Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y) picked up six. Michael Hinchey (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) had 11 saves between the pipes in 51 minutes, recording the win, while Nate Bordeau (Fayetteville, N.Y.) posted three saves in the final eight minutes.



Hilbert College was led by Nick Cavalieri with four goals while Sean Purtill and Elliot Russillio each added two. Cavalieri and Purtill each had two assists. Kyle MacKowiak and Roland Jimerson each grabbed five groundballs for the Hawks while Russillio, William Wagner and Bill Moleins each picked up four. Wagner had 30 saves in the game as Morrisville State dominated shots in the contest, 71-34.



Morrisville also won the ground ball battle 40-29, and were whistled for 16 penalties in the game while the Hawks only had seven.



All game proceeds went to the Wounded Warrior Project and before the game eight seniors were honored including Stein, Maxwell, Fiore, Hinchey, Kevin Wilkerson (Nedrow, N.Y.), Tom Longland (Dunnville, ONT), Tim Hearne (East Syracuse, N.Y.) and Dominic Barillaro (Owego, N.Y.).
