Morrisville State men post 92-79 NEAC win over Abington

Six netted double figures for Morrisville State College men's basketball enroute to a 92-79 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over visiting Penn State Abington Sunday afternoon in Morrisville.



Morrisville State improved to 5-6 overall, 2-0 in conference play. Penn State Abington dropped to 4-9 overall, 1-1 in NEAC action.



Mickey Davis (Jamesville, N.Y.) led all scorers with 22 points, adding seven rebounds, while Andrew Lucio (Solvay, N.Y.) tallied 15 points, hitting 7-of-8 from the free throw line, dishing out seven assists and posting three steals. Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, N.Y.) added 11 points and grabbed eight boards, as Brandon Henry (Bronx, N.Y.) also contributed 11, assisting three. Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Hodges Sneed (Syracuse, N.Y.) rounded out top scoring for the Mustangs, netting 10 apiece.



Abington had four in double figures, including Will Alton who posted a team high 18 points, three assists and three steals. Mike Marvin added 12 points and 10 boards, while teammates Corey Curtis and Josh Howard each contributed 11 points. Howard also had 10 rebounds.



The Nittany Lions opened the contest with two straight three's before Morrisville State posted an 11-0 run to gain the 11-6 advantage early in the first period. The Mustnags maintained an eight point lead until Abington cut the deficit to five as Howard nailed one from behind the arc with just over seven minutes to go in the half. Morrisville State responded with six straight points to claim the double digit advantage, increasing that to as many as 16 at the break.



In the second, Abington battled back to within seven with 1:40 to go in the contest, but the Mustangs hit five straight free throws to secure the conference win.



Morrisville State shot 49.2 percent from the floor (43.1 percent for Abington), including 8-of-22 from downtown, and held the 48-39 advantage on the glass in the contest.



The Mustangs return to the court Wednesday at SUNY IT. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Utica.
