Visiting Morrisville State College men's basketball dropped their second straight contest, as they were overpowered by Nazareth College en route to an 86-62 final in the opening round of the Medaille College Tip-off Tournament Friday night in Buffalo.
Morrisville State falls to 0-2 overall and will face Roberts Wesleyan tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the consolation match.
Playing a back and forth battle for a majority of the first half, Nazareth went on a 10-0 run over the final 3:21 to build a 45-31 lead at the break over the Mustangs and didn't look back in the second half, posting the 24 point non-conference victory.
Nazareth's Brad Ford led all scorers with 25 points, hitting 9-of-13 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc, while adding nine boards. Jason Corletta added 13 points, dishing out four assists.
Mickey Davis (Jamesville, NY) paced the Mustangs with 14 points and three rebounds, while Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, NY) added nine points and three boards in Morrisville State's efforts.
Morrisville State shot .500 from the floor (.389 from behind the arc) compared to Nazareth's .431 percent, but the Mustangs turned over the ball 18 times to the Golden Flyers seven.
