Morrisville State hockey raises $6,020 for Saves For A Cure

The Morrisville State College men's ice hockey team, together with the Morrisville community, raised more than $6,000 Saturday for the Saves For A Cure program, a non-profit charitable organization that assists children, in the Rochester, N.Y. area, with their battle against cancer.



All proceeds from the contest against Plattsburgh were donated to the program, including admission, 50/50 ticket and other raffle sales, along with general donation buckets. Morrisville State also sported special green Saves For A Cure jerseys, which were auctioned off, and collected additional funds for the cause totaling $2,232.



This was a first for the Morrisville State hockey program in support of the Saves For A Cure program which makes an impact on children's lives as they take on the fight against cancer.



Todd Sheridan, a cancer survivor, is the founder of the Saves For A Cure program, which donates 100 percent of the money collected at events to aid children at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester.



“The inaugural Saves For A Cure event this past Saturday at Morrisville was a huge success, and despite the treacherous weather, fans flocked to the Iceplex and packed the stands in support of a tremendous cause,” Morrisville State College head coach, Brian Grady said. “The college and community were outstanding in their support for the program, and the generosity of area businesses and foundations allowed us to exceed other efforts already completed this year.”



“The Mustangs were thrilled to be a part of the Saves For A Cure mission and look forward to working with the organization again in the future,” he said.
