Morrisville State College ice hockey fell short Saturday night to #14 nationally ranked Hobart College, recording a 3-2 non-conference loss in Geneva.

Morrisville State is now 8-7-1 on the season, while Hobart improves to 12-4-1.

Hobart posted two first period goals over the Mustangs, with the first score of the night coming just 59 seconds into the contest as Tommy Capalbo put one past Morrisville State netminder, Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC) for the early lead.

Ten minutes in, Tom Rush extended the Statesmen lead to two, netting the score off assists from Brad Richard and Frank Salituro.

Minutes into the second period, Morrisville State's James Jarvis (Pickering, ONT) connected with Ryan Marcuz (Richmond Hill, ONT) for the Mustangs first tally, cutting the lead to one, but Salituro added a score for Hobart in the 15th minute to regain the two goal Statesmen advantage heading into the final period.

In the third, Morrisville State held the 16-4 advantage in shots on goal, but could only get one past Statesmen goaltender Nick Broadwater. Hobart was whistled for a hooking penalty late in the final stance, and with seconds remaining on the extra man opportunity, Jarvis fired one past Broadwater to make it a 3-2 game with 49 seconds to go.

Broadwater turned away three of his game total 43, in the closing seconds as Hobart claimed the victory.

Relkoff made 25 stops in net in the loss for the Mustangs.

Morrisville State resumes conference action on the road at Brockport on Friday.
