The Mustangs netted an early lead nearly three minutes into the first period from Nick Kulas (Parma, MI) assisted by Jamie Nelson (Stratford, ONT) and Taylor Vince (Barrie, ONT). Less than one minute later, the Cardinals answered with an unassisted goal from Dylan Clarke (Belleville, ONT) to even the score. Later in the first period, Kyle Kudroch (Cottam, ONT) and Eric Satim (Montreal, Quebec) gave the Cardinals a two-goal lead, each netting a goal apiece. The Mustangs ended the first period down by two.

Tonight's game benefited Saves For A Cure, a non-profit organization founded by former Brockport goaltender Todd Sheridan, aimed to help children with their battle against cancer in the Rochester, New York area. The Morrisville State men wore “Saves For A Cure” jerseys in tonight's contest that are being auctioned off until tomorrow, ending at 5 p.m.

The Mustangs return to the ice Friday, Feb. 11, at SUNY Cortland starting at 7 p.m.
