Morrisville State College Wood Tech Students Receive Awards

Two Morrisville State College wood products technology students recently received awards from the New England Kiln Dryers Association (NEKDA).



Receiving the J. Harry Rich Award ($500) was Carissa Oeser, of Fort Plain, N.Y. Oeser is the daughter of Deneen Strobel and Randy Oeser of Fort Plain, N.Y.



Adam Sobczak, of Lancaster, N.Y., received the Maurice Roy Award ($1,000). A member of the Elma Volunteer Fire Department, he is the son of Mike and Jean Sobczak of Lancaster, N.Y.



Awards are based on interest in the wood products industry and academic performance.



Morrisville State College's wood products technology program, designed to train students for employment in finish carpentry, cabinet-making, furniture production and wood manufacturing industries, offers two concentrations in finish carpentry or furniture production and business. Students utilize an impressive 14,000 square-foot wood technology complex complete with a furniture laboratory and a primary processing laboratory with kilns and a modern sawmill.
