MORRISVILLE, NY—The Morrisville State College Theater Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) will present Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Show” in the Little Theatre of the Student Activities Building on March 24, 25 and 26 at 8 p.m., April 1 and 2 at 8 p.m., and April 3 at 2 p.m.
A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940s through to the early 1970s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation, a Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man named Rocky Horror.
O’Brien wrote the book, lyrics, and music for “The Rocky Horror Show,” which won The Evening Standard (London newspaper) Theatre Award for Best Musical in 1973.
The show was adapted into the 1975 film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Meat Loaf and O’Brien.
“The Rocky Horror Show” is presented through special arrangement with Samuel French in New York, New York. It contains adult language and content.
General admission is $8, and $3 for students. Tickets will be sold at the door.
