MORRISVILLE, NY— An exhibit showcasing art created by veterans and their supporters is on display now through Jan. 10 in the Donald Butcher Library Gallery at Morrisville State College.

The display, “Serving,” highlights the work of artists from Central New York, including veterans who served in various wars.

An opening reception will be held on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the library gallery.

Among artists featured in the show are Sharon Blair, whose son is a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Her emotional paintings, “A Military Series-A Parent’s Perspective,” depict a veterans’ experiences through a parent’s eyes. “It has become my purpose and passion to teach about what these heroes experience through the expression of art,” she said.

Artist Cartlon Manzano, an Army veteran who was stationed at various bases around the world, used painting to record his personal experiences. His colorful work reflects the images and people he encountered in his travels throughout the years.

The show, supported by New York Council for the Humanities, The Morrisville College Foundation, and the Veterans Task Force, is one of a series of projects developed by Morrisville State College faculty and staff to celebrate and support the service of veterans and their return to civilian life.

The exhibit can be viewed during library hours. For library hours visit http://library.morrisville.edu/ or call 315.684.6055.
