Morrisville State College women's basketball team beat Cazenovia College, 80-60 in a Northeastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match-up Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.
The Mustangs are now 10-13 overall and 8-7 NEAC while Cazenovia falls to 5-17 and 4-11.
Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) led the Mustangs with a collegiate best 32 points, adding 16 rebounds, while Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) added 20 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Tierra Hollins-Hill (Bronx, NY) had 10 points and six assists.
The Wildcats were led by four players in double figures including Erin O'Malley, Megan McDermott, Megan Pomarico, and Haley Zambito having 14, 10, 12, and 15 points respectively. O'Malley and Pomarico also led Cazenovia on the glass with nine and eight rebounds.
The game was tied going into halftime 30-30, with Townsend leading all scorers having 16 points. It was a back and forth battle during the second half with the Mustangs pulling away with ten minutes remaining in the game. Morrisville made 17 of 20 free throws in the game.
The Mustangs are back in action on Tuesday at SUNY Cobleskill and return home to fact SUNY IT Saturday at 3 p.m. in double-header action.
