Sister Shuzy will be making her debut at The Great New York State Fair in Syracuse this year showing off her foal to thousands of passers-by.
The standardbreds will join three other four-legged favorites (Ace, Banjo and Jessie) inside Morrisville State College's building during the popular fair which runs Aug. 25-Sept. 5.
In addition to horses, the college will tout technology created by its students—an electric cart designed by mechanical engineering technology students and a video game crafted by students in computer information technologies programs. Fair-goers can also partake in a dairy program quiz for a prize and visit with members of the college's soccer team Aug. 27 who will be answering questions and showing off their skills.
Fair enthusiasts can also obtain an array of information about the college and speak to faculty and staff about the college's program offerings, athletics and activities. Morrisville State College alumni are encouraged to stop by and access materials to find fellow classmates, enjoy history about the college and get caught up on its expansion and progress.
The college will also have a presence in the Pride of New York Marketplace, managed by the Morrisville State College Auxiliary Corporation (MAC) through Nelson Farms. This former lottery building, located at the main entrance to the fair, resembles an old-time store stocked with food grown or produced in every corner of New York state.
The college's School of Agriculture and Natural Resources will also exhibit in the Future Farmers' of America (FFA) Building.
Equine faculty and students will also be competing Sept 1-4 with the Morrisville College Foundation's six-horse Belgian hitch in the coliseum near the dairy barn Sept. 1-4. Admission to the horse show is free. Morrisville is the only college in North America to compete with a six-horse hitch.
The college's building is located near Gate 4 by the Coca-Cola Coliseum and the Iroquois Indian Village.
