Rebecca Potter, a student at the Norwich campus of Morrisville State College, is the recipient of the college's Rays of Light Award.
The Rays of Light Award recognizes a student in sophomore class standing who has made significant contributions in his or her community through volunteering.
Potter, of New Berlin, N.Y., an Early Childhood major, is a peer mentor for the Early Childhood program at the Norwich campus. As a peer mentor, she works with students in a variety of capacities including supporting academic instruction through tutoring and brainstorming sessions, and coordinating events.
She is also active on the Norwich campus as a member of the Student Government Association (SGO), Human Service Organization (HSO), and the Early Childhood Organization and has participated in numerous campus volunteer efforts.
