MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College is hosting a free workshop for those interested in learning about nutrient management in pastures.
The workshop, scheduled April 12 from 3-5 p.m. in Bicknell Hall, will address questions about managing soil fertility in the pasture and interpreting soil test reports as they relate to forage production. It will also cover soil phosphorus management and ideas for the next grazing season.
Presenters will include Dr. Jennifer Gilbert Jenkins, assistant professor of agricultural science at MSC, and her student research group, along with Troy Bishopp, grazing specialist with the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District Office. They will discuss data collected from soils at Bishopp Family Farm in Deansboro as a case study for nutrient management concerns common in the region.
Participants can bring soil test reports for discussion. Light refreshments will be served.
Registration is not required for the workshop, which is a partnership among MSC, the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District.
