Morrisville State approved for Governor's Start-UP NY plan

Morrisville State is moving forward to partner with local and new businesses after their application was approved for Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s tax-free Start-Up NY plan.



Launched in October, Start-Up NY provides incentives for eligible businesses to relocate, start-up or expand tax-free on or near campus for 10 years and their employees will pay no state or local income taxes.



The plan will enable the college to attract new businesses into the area and create synergies between them and the campus itself. Morrisville will seek to locate businesses that align with the college’s mission and academic strengths. The college is grounded on strengths in agriculture, technology and innovative entrepreneurship.



Several businesses have already expressed interest in the college’s Start-Up NY program and are in the process of filling out applications to gain necessary approval from the college and Empire State Development, according to Glenn Gaslin, interim vice president of administration.
