The Morrisville State College athletics department has named sophomore western rider, Amy Meyer (Equinunk, Penn.), and senior men's lacrosse goal keeper, Michael Hinchey (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 25.
Meyer placed fourth overall at the western equestrian Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) semi-finals over the weekend in the individual intermediate equitation class. She defeated 12 other riders in the class to advance to the national championships for the first time in her career, held in the beginning of May in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Meyer is an equine science and management major at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Sue and Clarence Meyer of Equinunk.
Hinchey recorded a total 35 saves in net over the week for the men's lacrosse team, including a season high 18 in the setback to Potsdam. To date on the season, he has recorded a .533 save percentage and a 2-3 record, while turning away 64 shots.
The technology management major at Morrisville State is a graduate of Kingston High. He is the son of Barbara and Michael Hinchey of Kingston.
