Men's soccer comes from behind to beat Penn State Abington 2-1, falls to Penn State Berks 2-1

The Morrisville State men's soccer team came from behind to beat Penn State Abington in conference play on Saturday, but couldn't repeat as they fell to Penn State Berks on Sunday, 2-1.



The Mustangs are now 2-6-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play.



On Saturday Penn State Abington scored first, early in the 2nd half, when Julian Ward scored for the Nittany Lions. The Mustangs answered back with a goal from Sanley Pierre-Louis, who headed a cross from Dan Kyc past the opposing goaltender. Less than three minutes later Gilroy Alvarez put the Mustangs on top for good when he won a loose ball and beat the keeper one on one, putting Morrisville State up 2-1.



On Sunday Penn State Berks also tallied the first goal, scoring late in the first half when Collin McCormick shot a direct kick from 50 yards out, beating Mustangs goaltender Shane Sullivan. The Nittany Lions scored again at 55:24 when Zach Alesi had a breakaway to goal, making the score 2-0. Morrisville State rallied for a goal at 67:03 when Tom Huber finished a cross from David Cerasani, bringing them within one. The Mustangs were unable to complete their second come from behind win of the weekend, as they fell to Penn State Berks 2-1.



Shane Sullivan recorded both the win and the loss for Morrisville State, playing all 90 minutes in goal.



The men's soccer team is back home on Saturday, October 15 to face Penn State Harrisburg at 1 PM.
