Men's and women's cross country place 3rd and 5th at Heron invitational

The Morrisville State College men's cross country team finished 3rd out of 4 teams at the Heron Invitational held at Seneca Lake State Park on Saturday.



Freshman Gregory Johnsmeyer (West Hurley, N.Y.) crossed the finish line first for the Mustangs, taking 3rd place overall in the 5K run with a time of 16:11. Ben Sargrad (Manlius, N.Y.) finished in 9th place with a time of 17:22. Placing 14th and 15th overall for the Mustangs was Dakota Nelson (Smyrna, N.Y.) and Andrew Klampert (Scarsdale, N.Y.) with times of 17:46 and 17:54 respectively. Basil McKenzie (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) rounded out team scoring with 21st and 22nd place finishes.



The women's team finished 5th with Amanda Hunt (Laceville, P.A.) leading the Mustangs finishing in 14th place in the 5K run with a time of 20:56. Next to finish for the Mustangs was Victoria Lanquah (Bronx, N.Y.) in 37th place with a time of 22:56. Finishing close behind in 38th place was Kristen Offringa (Napanoch, N.Y.) with a time of 22:59. Rounding out the scoring for the women's team were Hillary Courtwright (Chittenango, N.Y.) and Brittany Ellis (Camillus, N.Y.) who finished 44th and 47th, respectively.



The Mustangs are back in action on Saturday, October 29th at the NEAC Championships, which are being held at SUNY Cobleskill.
