Keuka outlasts Morrisville State women, net 63-50 NEAC win

Visiting Keuka College women's basketball hit 8-of-15 from behind the arc and withstood a second half comeback attempt to outlast host Morrisville State College Wednesday night for the 63-50 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory.



Morrisville State drops to 1-5 overall, 0-1 in conference play, while the Storm improve to 3-1, 1-0 in the NEAC.



Keuka had three net double figures in the win, including Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY) who led all scorers with 19 points on the night. Taylor Szwec (Candor, NY) added 16 points, three from downtown, and grabbed a team best 12 boards, while teammate Erica Pendrak (Utica, NY) rounded out the top scorers for the Storm with 11 points, dishing out 11 assists.



Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) netted 18 points and controlled the glass with 15 rebounds to lead Morrisville State while Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) added 12 points and eight boards. Tierra Hollins-Hill (Bronx, NY) contributed 10 points and dished out three assists in the Mustangs efforts.



Morrisville State trailed by five with 3:47 to go in the first half, but Keuka closed out the first period with an 11-2 run to claim the 40-26 lead and didn't look back in the second, leading by as many as 18 for the win.



Keuka shot 37.7 percent from the floor in the contest, including 54 percent from behind the arc, while holding the narrow 51-49 advantage in rebounds. Morrisville State struggled from the floor, hitting just 19-of-71 shots, including 3-of-24 from downtown on the night.



Morrisville State returns to the floor Saturday, hosting Hamilton College at 1 p.m.



Keuka hosts Cobleskill on Saturday.
