The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its softball all-conference teams, naming Morrisville State College outfielder, Kate Jones (Valley Cottage, NY) to its second team. Mustangs head coach, Tom Blackford, was named co-Coach of the Year.
Blackford, in his first season at the helm of the program, coached the Mustangs to a program best 16-15 overall NCAA record, while finishing third in the conference with a 12-4 NEAC record. Morrisville State appeared in the conference championship tournament as the third seed, recording their first post-season victory before falling to eventual conference champion Keuka.
Jones completed the season with a .325 batting average, starting all 31 games for the Mustangs in center field. In 83 at bats she recorded 27 hits, five doubles, two triples and three home runs, while posting 16 RBI's and 26 runs scored. In the field she recorded 31 put outs, assisted five, and had a fielding percentage of .900.
A freshman equine science and management major at Morrisville State, Jones is a 2010 graduate of Nyack High School. She is the daughter of Brenda Ketterer Jones and Michael Jones, Sr.
