Hunt, Townsley lead Morrisville State cross country teams 4th and 2nd place finishes at NEAC Championship

Sophomore Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.) and senior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) were top finishers for the Morrisville State College women’s and men’s cross country teams at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship held at Penn State Abington, Saturday October 27^th.

Hunt finished 5^th overall out of 87 runners with a time of 23:00 at the 5K Women’s NEAC Championship to lead the women’s team to a fourth place team finish. Celine Eppolito (North Collins, N.Y.) was the next Mustang to cross the finish line, placing 9^th with a time of 23:54. Evelia Hehir (Washingtonville, N.Y.),Roxanne Bailey (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Cassie Dunbar (Verona, N.Y.) rounded out team scoring, finishing 16^th, 38^th and 39^th respectively.

SUNY Cobleskill captured its fourth straight title with a team score of 34. Penn State Berks finished in second place with a team score of 49, while Wells College came in third with 81 points. The rest of the team finishes were as follows: Morrisville State College (4^th, 107 points), Penn State Abington (5^th, 156 points), Cazenovia (6^th, 176 points), Keuka College (7^th, 181 points), Gallaudet University (8^th, 204 points), Lancaster Bible (9^th, 220 points), Penn State Harrisburg (10^th, 284 points), St. Elizabeth (11^th, 287 points), SUNY IT (12^th, 300 points).

Townsley led the men’s team to a second place finish overall, crossing in 3^rdplace with a time of 29:36, recording the top finish in NEAC Championship history for Morrisville State. Ben Sargrad (Manlius, N.Y.) finished next for the Mustangs, crossing in 8^th place with a time of 29:54. Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.), Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) and Austin Hirsch (Morrisville, N.Y.)rounded out team scoring with 11^th, 12^th and 20^th place finishes, respectively.

SUNY Cobleskill won its fourth title in five years with a team score of 52, while Morrisville State came in a close second, just two points behind, with a team score of 54. SUNY IT finished third with 70 team points. The rest of the team finishes were as follows: Penn State Berks (4^th, 112 points), Wells College (5^th, 156 points), Penn State Abington (6^th, 164 points), Penn State Harrisburg (7^th, 169 points), Gallaudet (8^th, 196 points), Keuka College (9^th, 216 points), Lancaster Bible (10^th, 251 points).
