Hunt seat team reserve at Skidmore

The Morrisville State College hunt seat team took to the arena Saturday at Skidmore College, and picked up where they left off at the semester break by collecting reserve high point team honors for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition held in Saratoga Springs.

Skidmore earned high point team honors with 49 points, while Morrisville State edged Hartwick by one point to collect reserve accolades with 32 team points. Hartwick had 31 on the day, Colgate 28 and Siena 26 to round out the top five.

Three Mustangs posted top finishes for the team, including Kirsten Sheffer (Corning, N.Y.) who collected a blue ribbon in the novice equitation on the flat class. Caroline Detzi (Pen Argyl, Pa.) followed with a win in the novice equitation over fences class, while Nicole Achtyl (North Collins, N.Y.) topped the field in the walk trot class.

Five riders also posted second place rides on the day, including Morgan Wilsberg (Mattituck, N.Y.) who finished second in open fences and intermediate equitation on the flat.

Alexis D’Auria (Cronton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) was second in the novice equitation on the flat class, while teammate Karly Frigon (Fabius, N.Y.) finished second beginner walk trot canter class.

Emma Robbins (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Tomara Bodnaruik (Glen Spey, N.Y.) each collected a second in the walk trot class.

Carissa Pidkameny (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) qualified for the regional championships with her third place finish in the novice equitation over fences class.

Morrisville State returns to the riding arena Saturday, traveling back to Skidmore.
