Hollins-Hill leads Morrisville State women to 61-50 win over Wilson

Freshman guard Tierra Hollins-Hill (Bronx, N.Y.) netted a collegiate best 15 points and added three rebounds and four steals to lead visiting Morrisville State College women's basketball to a 61-50 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host Wilson College Sunday afternoon in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.



Morrisville State improves to 3-10 overall, 2-4 in conference play, while Wilson drops to 2-8 overall, 2-5 in NEAC action.



Hollins-Hill hit 5-of-9 from the floor and added 3-of-4 from the free throw line for 13 points in the second half alone to boost the Mustangs to their second conference victory this season. Four additional teammates recorded double figures for Morrisville State, including Nijah Townsend (Bronx, N.Y.) and Dyshea Smiley (Harlem, N.Y.) who tallied 11 each, with Jennel Paul (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Nijee Scott (Bronx, N.Y.) contributed 10 apiece. Paul controlled the glass for the Mustangs, grabbing 11 boards, while Townsend posted 10 as Morrisville State held the 58-40 advantage in rebounding over the Phoenix.



Tara Fields and Vanessa Whitfield each had 18 points for Wilson, Whitfield adding 11 boards to her tallies, while Ashlee Yealy had eight points and 10 rebounds.



Paul and Smiley combined for 21 points in the first half to lead Morrisville State to a 38-22 advantage at the break.



The Mustangs built up as many as a 20 point lead early in the second and maintained the double digit lead throughout the remainder of the half to earn the win.



Morrisville State shot just 30.8 percent from the floor, but converted 12-of-14 from the free throw line.



The Mustangs return to the court Tuesday, hosting conference rival SUNY Cobleskill at 7 p.m. in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities Gymnasium on the Morrisville State campus.
