The Morrisville State College athletics department has named freshman western team rider, Jessica Flint (Brushton, N.Y.), and junior hockey forward Ryan Marcuz (Richmond Hill, Ontario) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 2.
Flint was a two-time winner at the Morrisville State Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Western Invitational on Sunday, collecting blue ribbons in the novice class for both shows. A point rider for team competition, Flint assisted the Mustangs to high point team and reserve team accolades on the day.
Marcuz led the men’s ice hockey team to a 1-1-1 week, notching two goals and five assists on the week.
In the win over Brockport, Marcuz posted a collegiate best five points, tallying one score while assisting four others as Morrisville State registered the 5-4 conference win. The tally by Marcuz came late in the third period and proved to be the game winner. He added his second goal of the week on Saturday against Geneseo.
The junior is majoring in horticulture at Morrisville State. He is the son of Ruth and Mike Marcuz of Richmond Hill, Ontario.
